Indiana goes Blue

Indiana goes Blue, originally uploaded by lacychenault.

I am so proud to be an American right now - and for the first time - proud to be a Hoosier. Indiana went blue for the first time since 1964.

Mark and I proudly voted for Barack Obama yesterday in the great blue state of Indiana.

A couple of pictures from Indiana in the past week:

In IndianaVote Obama Nov. 4th

And yes, I cried when he won, and then again during his speech...

I never thought I would say this but.....I'm now happy that Kerry didn't win 4 years ago....

I'm by no means happy that Kerry lost in 2004, but I am relieved that John McCain didn't win in 2008.

America, the Beautiful, wasn't looking so hot the last few years. But there's something about her again. There's that glint of hope in her eyes that puts you at ease and reminds you that, yes, America is the land of opportunity.

They say every generation gets one great leader. I hope and dare to pray that Barack Obama is ours rather than another great message that is undermined by petty politicking.

The saddest thing to me is that, even in this day and age, you can see the divide in ideologies simply by looking at the great divide that exists, for the most part, since before the Louisiana Purchase. It's disheartening that hate breeds hate that is pushed through with a message of love.

How God and guns mix, I'll never understand.

Mark and I were so behind Kerry, and very, very sad for weeks after he lost. But I am so excited about Obama - and even just how excited and hopeful he has made people, I am happy he ran, and won, which would not have happened had kerry won.

I love that I was even around to see this all happen. Exciting really is the word for all of this - I am excited to see what he will do - and hopeful. I really do hope he can bring our country together again, and even put us in a respectful place in the world again.

Mark when through some hassle to be able to vote in Indiana - he had to get his birth certificate from Nebraska, and take the written driver test to get his Indiana drivers License (yeah...he STILL had a Michigan one), all that within weeks of the deadline, just so he could vote for Obama.

You can write the president when you have a baby and they will send you some form letter of congrats with the presidents siggie - when Anson was born...I just couldn't bring myself to write bush - So, in January I'm writing Obama and explaining how I didn't want a Bush letter of congrats....hopefully Anson will get a form letter from Obama - would make a great keepsake.
